Ephesians
2:8-10
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is
not your own doing; it is the gift of God— not the result of works, so that no one
may boast. For we are what he has made
us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be
our way of life.
It
will be 5 years this July since God drastically changed the path of my
life. I had been taught all my
life to choose a career by the amount of pay that could be earned. If I didn’t want to struggle and my
kids to struggle, I needed to be in a career that I could make large amounts of
money. So following my Dad’s
example I started with a company and gave it my all, both feet in! I began in sales consistently producing
top numbers. I was asked to move
and assist to open a store and manage that store. I achieved top awards, great trips and huge bonuses. I was the companies 1st
female regional manager. I was
living the dream. During this
climb, I married, bought a house, had 2 children, traded cars every 2 years and
we always had the newest tv in every room.
In
2008, I participated in Disciple I.
During this class I began a true discipline of reading the bible
everyday and praying faithfully. I
began really listening for God. My
faith increased and my heart began to change. My walk hand-in-hand truly began. In 2010 during my 1st trip to Haiti the Lord
moved my heart and changed my eyes in such a way that I resigned from my career
when I returned.
It
was thru leaving that season of my life that he has been able to reveal to me the abundant life that he wants
for all of us. As my faith grows,
he fills my life with good things.
Nothing that I accomplish, only what he fills my life with daily.
Loving
God, Let our faith increase that
we may be able to trust and receive all the good that you have for our
lives. Help us to do good in the
world. Amen.
